How To Keep Your Bathrooms Clean And Sanitary

One of the most important parts of your home to keep clean and sanitary is the bathroom. If you do not, you put yourself and your family at risk of health problems. The most important thing to remember when you are cleaning your bathroom is that it is broken down into a few key components. Tackling your bathroom cleaning can be as easy as a quick daily routine and a bi-monthly deep cleaning.

Four-Step Daily Routine

Step 1 involves moving all the items from your surfaces and wiping them down with a microfiber cloth and some disinfectant. Pick up any stray items that may be floating around and put them where they belong.

The next step is to put your cleaning products on the various surfaces. This can include toilet bowl cleaner, anti-mold spray on shower curtains and problem areas, tile cleaner in the tub and sinks, and glass cleaner on the mirror and reflective surfaces. Some products only need to be applied then cleaned off such as the window cleaner; however, other products that you use on soap scum in the tub or for disinfecting your toilets will need to sit for 5-10 minutes while you clean other areas.

After applying your cleaning products, be sure to wipe the mirrors with soft terry cloth or microfiber cloth to minimize the amount of residue and streaks. This will remove any spittle from toothpaste and droplets from the steam from showering. You should also wipe the sink fixtures since they tend to become tarnished.

The fourth and last step is to deal with the floors. This is best saved for last since you will need to be moving around in the bathroom. It is usually best to sweep then mop them with an antiseptic or disinfectant cleaning product.

Deep Clean

When you maintain your bathroom on a daily basis, your deep clean should not be a burdening chore. There are a few key areas you will need to focus on when you perform your bi-monthly cleaning.

Toilets will need to be dealt with very carefully because they are the most frequently used bathroom appliances and get dirty every day. You can either use store-bought disinfectants and cleaners or you can use a homemade mixture of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Using something that will kill the bacteria and germs that build up in the toilet, you can ensure the proper sanitation of your bathroom.

When you decide to deep clean your bathroom, you need to clean your showers and tubs. The most common problem with these sections is that there are a lot of water stains and soap scum build-up. Depending on whether you have a shower with tiles or a tub with porcelain, you may need to use different cleaning products to remove any build-up of unwanted scum.

Wrapping Up

When you clean any area of your bathroom, the most important thing to remember when you are trying to maintain a sanitary bathroom is that you will need to maintain a daily routine. This daily routine will allow you to minimize the workload by using a daily spray-on cleaner. Your daily routine can take as little as five minutes before or after showering.

It is also important to develop a deep-cleaning routine that will ensure the cleanliness of your bathroom. This deep cleaning only needs to be performed once every two to three weeks if you maintain a daily regimen. Your best friends during this process will be quality microfiber cloths and cleaning products.
