5 Reasons for Replacing Your Shower Head

5 Reasons for Replacing Your Shower Head

We all use the shower daily. But rarely do we care to change it after some time. The shower head, for most of us, is a pretty ordinary stuff and doesn’t deserve much importance. After our bath is over, the shower is forgotten until the next time we step under it. But a great shower with the correct water flow can relieve stress, reduce body aches and improve our mood.

Here’s why you may need to replace your shower head after some years of use.

  1. Saving water

Showers have been traditionally considered to be more economical in water usage than baths. But modern power showers often use as much water as the conventional bathing systems, particularly if you are one of those persons who use a shower for more than 10 minutes. Present-day water-saving shower heads mix the flow of water with air. This makes the shower save water. Known as eco-shower heads, these fittings doesn’t cost much and is a worthy investment.

  1. Tackling sedimentation

You may live in an area where the authorities supply hard water. This leads to sedimentation and limescaling in the shower head. It clogs the fine pores that emit the water from the shower and is quite common in many tropical countries. The initial stage of sedimentation can be managed by removing the shower head and keeping it overnight in a bowl of vinegar. But if the shower head is beyond repair i.e. the pores are clogged beyond any reasonable flow of the water, then it will call for a replacement. These days, sediment resistant shower heads are easily available. Many of these heads have a rubber or plastic nozzle instead of metal. But they require regular cleaning to prevent sediment buildup.

We often don’t realize that our shower head is not performing properly unless we use a shower elsewhere, like in a hotel or at a friend’s place. It’s obvious that the flow of water is greatly improved when we change the shower head. Shop carefully and ensure that the shower head you buy suits your purpose. It should output the volume of water you require for a perfect bath. The flow of water should be appropriate. There’s a wide range of shower heads available online.

  1. Easy fix

Modern shower heads are available in a number of designs. But majority of them conform to the same size of the water pipe and can be fit perfectly. Whenever you want to change the shower head, just unscrew the gadget and remove it. An older shower head may require more time but is usually done sans much effort. You don’t need to call the plumber to fix it. Just keep the water flow locked and a new shower head can be fixed in much less time than you think. That aside, you may be using a shower which dates back to the nineties, and never seriously thought of replacing it. With new designer shower heads being introduced in the market, maybe it’s just time to replace it.

You are in a better position to bargain a higher price. Leaking or clogged showers don’t speak well of a homeowner’s intent to maintain his house.
